The Cigweld WeldSkill Cast2Steel 2.5mm Electrode – 10pk is a high-performance Nickel/Iron electrode designed for the repair and maintenance of various types of cast iron. With a graphite-coated, basic flux, this electrode ensures a soft, stable arc with minimal penetration and spatter. Its superior tolerance to metal contaminants, such as oil and dirt, makes it perfect for demanding maintenance work.

This electrode provides machinable, high-strength welds, ideal for Spheroidal Graphite (S.G.) irons, austenitic cast irons, meehanites, and grey cast irons. It also excels when used to join cast iron to steel, delivering a durable, ductile Nickel/Iron weld deposit. For optimal results, Cast2Steel can be used for root and fill passes, followed by capping passes with Castcraft 100 to create a smoother surface finish.

Welding Procedure for Oil-Contaminated Cast Iron:

To reduce porosity caused by oil contamination, an increased arc length of approximately 6mm is recommended. For heavy contamination, preheating the cast iron to 200°C will further help reduce porosity, ensuring a stronger weld deposit.
